Animal Legal Defense Fund: Criminal Justice Program Fellow
Criminal Justice Program Fellowships further the mission of the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system, by engaging in research and legal writing aimed at improving the systemic handling of crimes against animals, and providing members of the criminal justice system with essential legal support on criminal cases with animal victims. Criminal Justice Program Fellows are responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned cases and projects, including ensuring the completion of all necessary research and filings. Indigenous Food & Agriculture Initiative - Unique LL.M. Fellowship Opportunity
The LL.M. Program in Agricultural and Food Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law has a new fellowship position that is offered jointly with the Indigenous Food & Agriculture Initiative. This fellowship will provide an LL.M. candidate the opportunity to work with the Initiative, supporting their work to promote tribal sovereignty through food and agriculture.
The Indigenous Food & Agriculture Initiative (IFAI) provides strategic legal analysis, policy research, and educational resources to empower Indian Country through food sovereignty, agriculture, and economic development. The LL.M. Fellow will work directly with the attorneys at the IFAI, supporting its mission.
A good academic record in Law School with experience in Indian Law is required. Some background in food and agricultural law is preferred. This is a part-time position that will allow the fellow to complete the LL.M. Program in 9 months. Compensation includes a full tuition waiver for all LL.M. courses, a stipend of $11,250, and the opportunity to enroll in the university's health insurance program with the University paying 66.66% of the premiums.
Although the LL.M. Program offers a fully integrated distance option, this position is open only to LL.M. candidates who study on-campus in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Program Manager, Initiative for Food and AgriCultural Transformation (InFACT)
The InFACT program manager will provide leadership and essential support for development of an innovative “food systems clinic” by cultivating internal partnerships with participating colleges, especially those with professional degree programs; service learning and other education opportunities for students; models for clinic operations and financial success, in addition to food system outreach in the community outside the university. The program manager will facilitate campus demonstration projects and programs, which includes educational installations (e.g. gardens); campus educational events (World Food Day, libraries, etc) as well as internal campus food system partnerships. The program manager will supervise program assistants and students working on InFACT associated projects, and assist with newsletter and other communications.
The ideal candidate must possess program design and project management experience, exceptional communication and organizational skills and the ability to interact with internal and external constituents in a spirit of collaboration toward achieving a common goal.
