San Francisco - Attorney
SUMMARY:
The in-house attorney is responsible for providing legal advice to the staff of NextGen Climate Action’s Super PAC, 501(c)(3), and 501(c)(4).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise NextGen staff on issues related to federal and state campaign finance law, voting rights, lobbying law, gift rules, and related topics
- Review and revise NextGen’s public communications (including broadcast, digital, and print advertisements) to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Review and coordinate the filing of campaign finance and lobbying reports
- Draft, negotiate, and review contracts with consultants, contractors, and vendors; leases for field offices; and related documents
- Advise NextGen’s 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations on IRS regulations, corporate compliance, and other issues related to corporate and non-profit law
- Work with outside counsel as necessary
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and California bar admission
- At least 1-3 years of legal experience, preferably at a law firm or non-profit organization
- Strong research and writing skills, including ability to clearly communicate complex legal issues to a non-legal audience
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Other duties as assigned

- Experience with electoral politics and policy advocacy
