Job Summary:

MEI is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as (Senior or Executive Director), Regulatory and Compliance Counsel, reporting to our Chief Compliance Officer.  This role will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel in support of our investigational products and brand planning activities in preparation for commercial launch.  This attorney will provide legal advice across the product portfolio, in areas such as FDA regulations, Anti-kickback Statute, PhRMA Code and other industry guidance documents. clinical development activities, product labeling, scientific exchange, publications, medical affairs activities and launch preparedness.  This role will serve as the legal function representative on the review team for medical materials, unbranded campaigns and ultimately promotional materials.

Senior Analyst II, Claims Substantiation, L'Oreal




L'Oreal is looking for a Senior Analyst II, Claims Substantiation. 

Responsibilities & Roles:

  • Evaluate and validate product claims for L’Oreal products, including claims-related launch responsibilities for domestic, regional and international brands collaborating closely with L’Oreal colleagues globally. Primary stakeholders will include the product development, product evaluation, regulatory, safety, marketing and legal teams, worldwide Claims and Country Scientific Directors.
  • Act as Principal contact person in the claims review in assigned areas, from inception to launch and beyond.

  • Collaborates with international colleagues on Claims/Communications limitations in countries where products will be sold.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related science required; advanced degree in science, preferred.

The Senior Counsel reports to Ferrara’s Assistant General Counsel and is responsible for mitigating legal risk across the company in areas such as marketing, advertising, ESG, food law and trademarks. Senior Specialist in Regulatory, Hershey




This position in Regulatory Affairs within the QRC organization involves leveraging knowledge of global food safety, nutrition science, and regulation for labeling, claims and transparency to develop policies, standards, and set company direction to ensure compliance for all Hershey ingredients and finished products. At Hershey this means ensuring that all aspects of a product’s lifecycle from development to delivery are compliant with all government regulations and company guidelines for the retail markets in which they are sold. This involves constantly monitoring the global food regulatory landscape for emerging issues; advising key internal stakeholders to the potential impact to the company; engaging and advocating as appropriate; and ensuring compliance. 

Role Responsibilities: 

50% - Regulatory Compliance Support – Serve as SME for:

  • U.S. food regulations. Provide regulatory leadership in areas including labeling, food safety, food additives, flavors and claims regulations. Utilize internal and external tools and systems to evaluate ingredients and formulas to make proactive, risk-based decisions
  • Finished product labeling regulations. Direct and execute finished product labeling from creation to final packaging approval.
  • Finished product claims management. Lead internal and third-party claims strategy for nutrient content claims, Organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, etc.). Work with manufacturing sites to lead and implement testing and substantiation.

40% - Business Engagement/Technical Leadership

  • Lead regulatory projects of medium to high complexity with minimal supervision. Develop regulatory standards, SOP’s, programs, processes, and tools. Communicate regulatory policy to internal stakeholders and partner with global regulatory teams to ensure consistency of compliance programs
  • Understand Quality and Regulatory excellence for the product lifecycle (develop, source, make, deliver) and drive Compliance by Design mindset.
  • Research new and changing regulations impacting ingredients, recipes, and claims. Communicate business impact and drive for solutions that benefit global export business and U.S. growth

10% - Other Regulatory Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Horizon scanning: Monitor emerging nutrition and regulatory trends that could impact the business or unlock growth opportunities 
  • Trade organizations: Participate as a member is industry trade organizations to understand the regulatory policy landscape and potential impact to the business and mitigate risk
  • Support Consumer Relations by providing responses to nutrition and regulatory related questions. Proactively create tools and training for newly implemented regulatory initiatives
  • Act as a back-up to support certification programs (i.e. Halal, Kosher).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science Related Field (Food Nutrition, Food Law and Regulation, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry) or equivalent.  Master’s Degree preferred.

Director of Policy and Governance, Indigenous Food and Agriculture Program




The University of Arkansas Director of Policy and Governance for Indigenous Food and Agriculture Program is a member of the IFAI Team. The position is responsible for participating in developing, executing, and maintaining a comprehensive policy analysis and Tribal Governance strategy for the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative located within the School of Law. Strategies will also include activities to increase the visibility and profile of the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative major national initiatives. The Director of Policy and Governance will be working directly with Tribal governments on matters of governance and economic development, Tribal colleges and inter-tribal organizations, as well as the partners to the Initiative in the execution of the Initiative programs. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Associate Director of the Initiative and works in collaboration with colleagues throughout the campus. The Director of Policy and Governance is also responsible for research, drafting, planning, editing, publication, and circulation of print materials, online newsletters, postings on social media and other communication outreach related to the Initiative projects. Additionally, the Director of Policy and Governance will create and manage systems to track information about key issues of policy, regulation, and rule-making. This position also will research, monitor, analyze and respond to policy issues that affect Tribes and Tribal organizations/stakeholder groups. This position may be required to travel long distances by air or vehicle on behalf of for various events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education or international equivalent

Regulatory Affairs (RA) is a critical functional capability based in R&D that consists of Regulatory Affairs professionals around the globe, operating across the wider business in global, regional, and local Regulatory Affairs roles. Job Summary

  • First Point of Contact to the growing Unilever International Food & Refreshment Business.
  • Build a relationship with the internal Unilever International Team and create a working network which will enable the regulatory affairs compliance support of the Unilever International Food & Refreshment Business for products sold in the US. 
  • Work as the Regulatory Affairs Compliance Business Partner to cluster divisional teams: R&D (Cluster/Local/Global), Supply Chain (Quality, Procurement, Innovation planners, Logistics, and International Compliance & Trade), Regulatory Affairs Cluster Innovation/Advocacy (I/A), Artwork Excellence Team, and External Affairs/Legal.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting into the Regulatory Affairs Manager II - Customer, the Regulatory Manager I serves as a regulatory and technical compliance consultant to business partners by interpreting, evaluating regulations, industry standards and customer requirements. This position brings risk-based solutions in support of commercialization and related processes, assists in directing the execution of compliance work as necessary, and manages overall customer/project expectations and KPIs.

  • Develop and launch Ethics & Compliance Program intranet site for associates to easily locate resources, training, communication, and engage directly with the Ethics & Compliance team
  • Work with Communications and other internal stakeholders to develop Ethics & Compliance branding for intranet site, communications, and training materials
  • Develop Ethics & Compliance training/communication plan around key compliance issues with regular cadence of communications to help support associate awareness and decision-making
  • Perform other compliance duties as assigned by Sr. Director and/or CCO to support development, implementation, and daily operational tasks for maintaining an effective Corporate Ethics & Compliance Program
  • Provide legal advice and handle Company-wide regulatory compliance matters pertaining to USDA/FDA/FTC/CPSC and applicable state laws and regulations around food and product safety, labeling, claims, and marketing/advertising; transportation; government contracting; and hazardous waste management and/or other environmental compliance matters
  • Develop regulatory compliance policies and procedures as needed
  • Interact with federal and state regulatory agencies as needed (e.g., responding to inquiries, inspection observations, and enforcement actions)
  • Maintain awareness of relevant legal climate, current case law decisions and professional expertise through the review of legal publications, seminar/conference attendance, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders and develop strong partnerships with operating leaders by providing excellent legal guidance and facilitating efficient resolution of commercial questions
  • Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with UNFI’s business, products and future goals
  • Perform other relevant job duties as required.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Education/ Certifications: (Required/Preferred-list requirement is required or preferred)
  • Undergraduate degree from a well-known university/college combined with a J.D. from a highly respected law school.
  • Membership in good standing to at least one state bar – Rhode Island or Minnesota preferred – and the ability to register as an “in-house counsel” pursuant to applicable state court rules.
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics progressions (CCEP) preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years of legal experience gained in a law firm environment and/or in-house legal department, with focus in litigation and regulatory compliance. In-house experience strongly preferred.
  • 3-4 years related experience in Corporate Ethics & Compliance Program roles (preferred)
  • Experience in wholesale distribution and retail industries is a plus

Skills

  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Fulsome understanding of US Sentencing Guidelines and DOJ’s expectations for effective corporate compliance programs (a plus)
  • Knowledge of privacy security law is a plus

Policy Director, DC Greens




DC Greens - a nonprofit that works to advance health equity by building a just and resilient food system - is seeking candidates for a Policy Director position within the organization.  The Policy Director is a member of DC Greens' Leadership Team, and is responsible for leading the Policy Department. Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated commitment to racial justice and equity; experience and cultural competence working with historically oppressed peoples and a strategic understanding of social change 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the vision and mission of DC Greens’ work; experience with advancing food justice initiatives in the District 
  • 10+ years of progressively increasing program management responsibilities informed by direct community experience and/or related educational studies 
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience leading, managing, and guiding diverse teams in their professional development 
  • Minimum of 3 years non profit leadership experience 
  • Experience managing programs within a nonprofit setting

Salary & Benefits This is a regular, full-time (40 hours/week) salary, exempt position. The salary range for this position is $86,750 to $92,000 commensurate with experience and non negotiable. There is a generous benefits package (medical/dental/vision, disability/life insurance, 25 days PTO, employer match on retirement contributions after 1 year, flexible schedule). DC Greens does have a telework policy that allows employees to work remotely. Due to the current pandemic all employees are currently working remotely but being physically present in the office may be a requirement in the future.
