This position is located in the Office of the Administrator, Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). AMS facilitates the strategic marketing of agricultural products in domestic and international markets while assuring fair trading practices and promoting a competitive and efficient marketplace to the benefit of consumers of U.S. food and fiber products. The Office of the Administrator is responsible for the overall planning and administration of the broad marketing, regulatory, and related Departmental programs and activities assigned to AMS.
The incumbent serves as a Local and Regional Food Systems Policy Advisor and, as such, plays a critical role in advising Agency, Mission Area, and Departmental officials on key issues and decision-making processes on a variety of complex, important, and sometimes controversial activities concerning Departmental and interagency local and regional food systems policies and relevant programs. Primary responsibility includes coordination and leadership of the USDA Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Initiative.
