FSMA Program Manager - State of Idaho

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is recruiting for a Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Agriculture Program Manager with the skills and experience to develop and implement a regulatory program that is focused on, and aligned with, the federal FSMA Produce Safety Rule. The program is intended to help the state's farmers understand and successfully meet the requirements of the rule by the safe production of fresh fruits and vegetables, ultimately protecting public health.

The FSMA Program is responsible for involving cooperators, food safety experts, and industry stakeholders in developing an assessment and plan for an education, outreach, and regulatory program for the Produce Safety Rule. This position will require travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program management responsibility for all phases of the FSMA program including decision-making authority which requires a wide variety of program/project responsibilities which may include: development of program plans, policies, procedures, and strategies to accomplish plans; program evaluation; staff work assignments; performance evaluations; policy communication; negotiation; contract compliance; and legal case preparation.
  • Develop a multi-year strategic plan for the FSMA regulatory program, monitor the implementation of the strategic plan, and evaluate and revise the plan as needed.
  • Develop and adhere to the program budget.
  • Monitor contract requirements and grant activities.
  • Track accomplishments and ensure accountability to meet all of the requirements of the FDA Cooperative Agreement including timelines, reports, and budget.
  • Assist in the involvement of cooperators, food safety experts, and industry stakeholders in developing an assessment and plan for education, outreach, and technical assistance for the regulated community.
