Mississippi Delta Fellowship (2021)

Working closely with the Food Law and Policy Clinic, 1 to 2-year fellowship for recent law school graduate. On-the-ground, community-centered work in the Mississippi Delta. The Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to inform and catalyze community change through the creation, development, and management of interdisciplinary projects as well as through policy advocacy. The Fellow works in collaboration with the Delta Directions Consortium, an interdisciplinary group of academic institutions, community-based organizations, and foundations focused on pursuing improvements in health, food systems, and economic development in the Mississippi Delta Region. Missouri Coalition for the Environmental (MCE): Executive Director

 MCE is a statewide leader that has been educating, organizing, and advocating in defense of Missouri’s people and their environment for over 50 years. MCE is actively working to eliminate social and racial injustice by advancing the right of every person to clean air, clean water, clean energy and sustainably sourced food. The organization has a strong reputation and track record of taking legal action as an environmental watchdog and a history of being agile and collaborating with partners statewide to support policy initiatives and incubate new, impactful programs (some that have even been spun out into their own organizations). As MCE looks towards its next 50 years, this position offers a unique opportunity to work with a knowledgeable board and motivated staff to define the strategic vision for MCE and its role as an environmental leader and partner in Missouri.

The ideal candidate will be strategic and visionary. They will have a demonstrated ability to build relationships and bring different stakeholders together as part of a coordinated effort to execute on a plan. They will have an entrepreneurial spirit and are excited to wear a lot of different hats, including strategic planner, fundraiser, agency spokesperson, and staff mentor/supporter. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for Missouri’s environment, environmental protection, and environmental justice. They will feel confident evaluating and prioritizing new opportunities that are presented to MCE, balancing the need for focus and flexibility, and are comfortable taking strong, well-informed public stances on issues. They have successfully developed and managed a team previously, fostering a collaborative, transparent, equitable, and inclusive culture, and value organizational development for supporting efficiency, consistency, and success.

Food Studies at Syracuse University: Assistant Professor

The Department of Nutrition and Food Studies is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of Food Studies to begin in the Fall of 2021. This position is part of an ambitious Invest Syracuse Cluster Hire Initiative in the broad area of Energy and Environment. As an integral part of this investment, Syracuse University is seeking to enhance research, collaboration, and strengthen competitive grant applications in the focus area of socioeconomic policy, and/or ecological implications of changes to food and agricultural systems from anthropogenic global warming.

The National Agricultural Law Center: Staff Attorney

 The Staff Attorney will assist with research and writing activities that further the national

mission of the National Agricultural Law Center, with an emphasis on food safety and labeling issues impacting the agricultural and food sectors. Staff Attorney will report to Senior Staff Attorneys and, as needed, oversee work with one or more Center Research Fellows. Staff Attorney must have demonstrated excellent legal research and writing skills, and have the ability to work independently as well as closely with Center staff, as needed. This is a 2-year position contingent upon continued funding and performance.

National Young Farmers Coalition - Campaigns Managing Director

The National Young Farmers Coalition seeks a campaigner with proven experience in legislative advocacy and movement-building, deep and informed perspectives on agricultural policy, and demonstrated commitment to racial equity to join our executive team as the Campaigns Managing Director.

The National Young Farmers Coalition (Young Farmers) represents, mobilizes, and engages young farmers to ensure their success. Since our founding in 2010, we have grown our grassroots network to over 200,000 individuals and partner organizations.

The Campaigns Managing Director will lead strategic direction and implementation of our policy, campaigns and organizing work to build long-term power and advance our organization’s vision for a bold and equitable transformation in agriculture. As a member of the executive team, they will participate in setting organizational strategy, shaping our organizational business model, and delivering on fundraising strategy that will resource our advocacy efforts. They will manage a team of senior-level staff responsible for state and federal policy as well as issue-specific campaigns. The Campaigns Managing Director will ideally be based in Washington, DC, although remote work is possible for an exceptional candidate.
