Global Quality Assurance and Incident Analyst - Whole Foods

Global Quality Assurance (GQA) Quality Assurance and Incident Analyst initiates food safety and quality control investigations via tracking and trending internal and external customer complaint data involving Whole Foods Market Exclusive Brands products. Acts as a liaison with the Exclusive Brands team, suppliers, internal food safety and quality control teams, Whole Foods Market regions and stores to help bring product related issues to resolution.

Responsibilities include:
  • Collect and analyze customer complaint and incident data. Provide supporting data for incidents that may potentially result in market withdraws/recalls; including handling confidential information.
  • Research and investigate new and emerging food safety regulations and communicate to appropriate team leaders/members.
  • Collaborate with various quality and food safety teams to conduct/monitor root cause analysis investigations to completion, including providing accurate and timely reports.
  • Work with WFM suppliers and distributors to coordinate and evaluate root cause analysis investigations.
  • Provide support, communications and tracking of WFM recalls/withdrawals; available after hours and on-call 1 – 2 weekends a month for recall support.
  • Act as a global contact to stores and regional teams as it relates to recalls, quality control complaints and incident management tools.
  • Assist with recalls and/or foodborne illness outbreak investigations; including coordinating with the various regulatory agencies (i.e. FDA, USDA, CFIA, etc.)

Global Nutrition Policy Analyst - CARE USA

Global Nutrition Policy Analyst 

Within the Policy Advocacy Department, the Global Nutrition Policy Analyst sits within the Global Advocacy Team, reporting to the Director, Global Food and Nutrition Security Advocacy, working closely with other members of the Global Advocacy Team, Policy and Advocacy Department (PAD), as well as the CARE USA Food and Nutrition Security Team and key colleagues in the CARE confederation.

Accordingly, with the support and guidance of the Director, Global Food and Nutrition Security Advocacy, the Global Nutrition Policy Analyst will lead CARE’s global nutrition advocacy, particularly around the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement and important global policy processes. The Global Nutrition Policy Analyst will collaborate with key colleagues in the CARE confederation, the Food and Nutrition Security Team, and regional and national advocacy colleagues, to craft a global nutrition advocacy strategy. The Policy Analyst will analyze global level policy trends and opportunities related to nutrition to draft policy positions, messaging, and other advocacy tools which can be used by colleagues in the CARE network. The Global Nutrition Policy Analyst will coordinate with key colleagues in technical teams, CARE members, and in regional teams and country offices to foster engagement in and implement the global nutrition advocacy strategy, including at a national level. S/he will coordinate CARE’s engagement in key global processes and coalitions to influence policy outcomes. S/he will provide technical assistance to targeted CARE country offices for national and regional advocacy and engagement with the Scaling Up Nutrition movement.

DEADLINE: Feb. 22nd - Legal Fellow - University of Maryland Agriculture Law Education Intiative

The Agriculture Law Education Initiative (ALEI) located at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking a Legal Fellow to assist developing and delivering ALEI services to farmers. ALEI is comprised of legal specialists and other extension specialists who help farmers understand and comply with state, federal and local laws and regulations. This education comes in the form of conferences, in-person education programs, legal publications, partnerships, webinars, videos and articles in farming periodicals. 
 
The Legal Fellow will provide legal research, writing and educational assistance for ALEI. Projects vary, some requiring just a few hours of support, others requiring several weeks. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience with a variety of legal, policy and regulatory matters concerning agriculture, environmental compliance and land use. Delivering legal presentations to groups of adult learners will be required. The Legal Fellow will work under the direction of ALEI Managing Director Sarah Everhart. The Legal Fellow will do the majority of the work remotely, however, regular travel throughout Maryland to meetings on both the Eastern Shore and Baltimore will be required and the fellow must have their own transportation. Candidates must be available no later than March 4, 2019. 
 
This position is full-time and will terminate on March 6, 2020. 
 
Essential Duties:
 • Conduct research and write ALEI program material and legal publications for a non-legal audience • Develop presentations and execute them 
• Coordinate and organize meetings, presentations and ALEI programs

Hemp Regulatory Specialist - State of Wisconsin

FSMA Program Manager - State of Idaho

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is recruiting for a Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Agriculture Program Manager with the skills and experience to develop and implement a regulatory program that is focused on, and aligned with, the federal FSMA Produce Safety Rule. The program is intended to help the state's farmers understand and successfully meet the requirements of the rule by the safe production of fresh fruits and vegetables, ultimately protecting public health.

The FSMA Program is responsible for involving cooperators, food safety experts, and industry stakeholders in developing an assessment and plan for an education, outreach, and regulatory program for the Produce Safety Rule. This position will require travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program management responsibility for all phases of the FSMA program including decision-making authority which requires a wide variety of program/project responsibilities which may include: development of program plans, policies, procedures, and strategies to accomplish plans; program evaluation; staff work assignments; performance evaluations; policy communication; negotiation; contract compliance; and legal case preparation.
  • Develop a multi-year strategic plan for the FSMA regulatory program, monitor the implementation of the strategic plan, and evaluate and revise the plan as needed.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Provides practical and timely counseling on compliance with federal and state food law requirements for all assigned clients.
  • Provide strategic counseling on areas of food safety and quality standards for ingredients, food processing and finished products
  • Provide counseling on areas of labeling and marketing requirements (including product naming requirements and claim substantiation)

Summer Internships - National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition

Univ of Colorado MENV: Instructor in Sustainability Planning & Management

 The Masters of the Environment (MENV) graduate program, within the University of Colorado Boulder’s Environmental Studies Program, seeks a full-time non-tenure-track Instructor and Specialization Lead for the Sustainability Planning and Management (SPM) track, to begin in June 2019.
