Organizer; Food & Water Watch

Organizer based in New Brunswick, NJ

Food & Water Watch is a leading national consumer advocacy organization that runs dynamic, cutting-edge campaigns challenging the corporate control and abuse of our food and water resources. Since 2005, we have won significant victories to protect our food and water. Our work has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post and other major media outlets.

Since opening our NJ office 2009, we have grown our staff to four regional organizers, six regional organizing teams, 6 campus campaigns, and a field canvass who all work together with our allies to ban fracking and fracking waste dumping, label genetically engineered foods, increase investment in public drinking waster, stop water privatization, and other efforts that will protect our food and water resources from those who exploit it for personal profit and gain. We have successfully stopped water privatization efforts in a number of municipalities, passed legislation to ban fracking and fracking waste dumping through the NJ Legislature, built diverse state-wide coalitions who work to address concerns with privatization, fracking and genetically engineered foods.

While the New Brunswick based organizer will be expected to work on all of Food & Water Watch’s issue campaigns; the primary focus of this position will be working with volunteers and allies to promote a ban on fracking and fracking waste dumping as well as support the labeling of genetically engineered foods. Working under the direction of our Mid-Atlantic Director, the Organizer works to develop and implement legislative, field organizing, and media strategies and campaigns in support of Food & Water Watch policy goals.
