Conservation Law Center - Hiring Environmental Litigation Attorney in Bloomington, Indiana

The Conservation Law Center (CLC) is the only Indiana-based nonprofit law firm dedicated to addressing some of the most pressing environmental problems through public interest litigation, policy advocacy, and other legal tools. CLC’s growing staff of eleven full-time professionals includes six attorneys experienced in the practice of environmental, conservation, and land use law. Their attorneys provide pro bono representation to environmental nonprofits, land trusts, and community groups to advance solutions to environmental challenges, protect public health in Indiana communities, preserve and protect wildlife and their habitat, and safeguard public trust rights in the Great Lakes.

CLC seeks to hire an environmental litigation attorney with 2-5 years of experience for an Associate position in our Bloomington, Indiana office. This attorney will principally work on CLC’s federal and state litigation and regulatory actions to protect natural resources and communities in Indiana and across the Midwest.

The Associate Attorney will collaborate with CLC’s Senior Attorneys on strategic litigation and advocacy to safeguard the public trust in Lake Michigan, protect Indiana’s wetlands, natural areas, and critical habitats from development threats, ensure clean air and water, and empower Hoosier communities to effectively engage in government decision-making that impacts their health and quality of life.

Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative Law and Policy Fellowship!

The Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative (IFAI) housed at the University of Arkansas College of Law is excited to announce a fellowship opportunity for law students or recent law grads to join their work on critical issues impacting Tribal food/agriculture law and policy.

The IFAI Law and Policy Fellowship is a six-month program for a third-year law student or new lawyer interested in gaining practical experience working on a wide array of legal topics across Indian Country agriculture. The Fellowship begins in May 2025 and concludes in December 2025. IFAI offers flexibility for those studying and sitting for the bar exam during the Fellowship period. The fellow will have the opportunity to work on a range of topics, including Tribal governance, food and nutrition, natural resources and conservation, food safety, agriculture policy, and more. IFAI’s work focuses on promoting Tribally-driven solutions to revitalize and advance traditional food systems and diversified economic development throughout Indian Country. IFAI provides Tribal governments, producers, and food businesses with educational resources, policy research, and strategic legal analysis as a foundation for building robust food economies.

20 hours/week at $25/hour in a remote, hybrid, or in person opportunity. IFAI offers flexibility for bar preparation and exam.

From the Farm Bill to food labeling and food safety, our Program covers our food system, from farm to plate. With full- and part-time enrollment, on-campus or by distance, we pride ourselves on flexibility. Distance students receive a tuition break (about $600/credit) and on-campus students are eligible for Graduate Assistantships that provide a tuition waiver and stipend.

The purpose of this position is to develop and train individuals that have recently graduated from college to prepare them to take on roles of increased complexity across the Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR) job family at various locations across Cargill. As part of the FSQR Associate Program, Associates will go through an extensive on the job training program that enables them to become familiar with the workflow of the business operations, and to develop knowledge of processing production, including good manufacturing practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), food safety, quality, process control and regulatory compliance. Individuals will be assigned key projects and will be responsible for overseeing and managing several food safety and quality programs at the plant. 
 
As an FSQR Associate, you will gain an understanding of processing production with primary emphasis on monitoring the processing activities of the various departments within the facility. Associates will be trained in a number of areas to learn skills and gain knowledge necessary to succeed in a Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory leadership role.
