Corporate Counsel at Monsanto, Regulatory Compliance

This position of Corporate Counsel, Regulatory Law has a distinct concentration on Seed & Regulatory Law. This role requires the successful candidate to diligently keep abreast of the laws and regulations applicable to Monsanto's seed and biotech trait products to ensure company compliance. The Corporate Counsel will research and respond actively, both orally and in writing, to a caseload of internal and external regulatory queries. The Corporate Counsel will advocate legal, regulatory and policy initiatives that promote the company's interests and advance innovative and workable solutions to complex agricultural law problems. Proper performance of this role calls for the utmost integrity and accountability. Examples of the specific work include:
  • Compliance with U.S. Federal Seed Act and state seed laws;
  • Seed variety naming and associated company policies;
  • Laws and regulations applicable to seed blends;
  • Laws and regulations applicable to seed shipments, seed quality and testing;
  • Proper and compliant labeling of seeds - biotech and conventional;
  • PVPA compliance for protected seed; and
  • Compliance with the Federal, Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act, the Plant Protection Act and the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act as they apply to the company's pesticide and biotech products.
