Farmers’ Market Coordinator

Overview:
The Farmers’ Market Coordinator reports to the Manager, Farmers’ Market Programs and is responsible for the overall coordination of the Health Bucks program - the nation’s largest city-run farmers’ market incentive program.   The primary responsibilities of this position will include coordinating distribution and tracking of Health Bucks to farmers’ markets and community-based organizations across NYC. The position will oversee program reporting and evaluation, including data entry.  The position requires a high level of organization and significant experience with Microsoft Excel. 

DUTIES:
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Job Description
·    Oversee distribution and tracking of Health Bucks coupons to farmers’ markets and community-based organizations.
·    Provides technical assistance and outreach to community-based organization to effectively implement nutrition and food-based education with partners and farmers’ market staff.
·    Assist with the development of promotional materials.
·    Oversee the development and implementation of farmers’ market walking tours.
·    Assists with the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of nutrition and farmers market-based consultants and interns.
·    Processes payments and assist with the management of program budget.
·    Assists with supervision and training of interns assisting with farmers’ market-based work.
·    Monitors program database entry and reporting.
·    Conducts community outreach to promote nutrition education and food access at farmers markets
·    Assist in the preparation of evaluation and related reports.
·    Assists in nutrition research projects and field studies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A  Master’s degree with a specialization in an appropriate field of public health, nutrition or related degree.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Experience working with data, budgets and fiscal reporting.
  • Ability to think independently and multi-task.
  • Knowledge of and experience with working with farmers’ market-based programming.
  • Experience supervising interns or staff
  • Knowledgeable about community food security issues in New York City.
