DescriptionA nutritious breakfast has a tremendous positive impact on student health and learning. Still, many students do not currently eat breakfast and schools nationwide are looking for ways to increase breakfast participation. San Francisco Unified School District, which partners with Revolution Foods to serve more than 30,000 fresh, healthy lunch and breakfast meals at more than 300 schools daily, is looking for ways to help more students start their days with nutritious meals.

The Expansion Coordinator will have the exciting opportunity to work together with Revolution Foods and SFUSD schools to reach more students with healthy breakfasts. The Expansion Coordinator will work with SFUSD school staff and teachers to galvanize interest in programs – such as breakfast in the classroom – that increase access to breakfast, then support schools through the first 2-4 weeks of service. He or she will have the chance to work closely with a fun, committed team spanning both SFUSD and Revolution Foods. The scale of Revolution Foods partnerships nationwide creates an exciting opportunity for great work to be scaled up quickly.

This is a contract/temporary position.
RequirementsDuties and Responsibilities
This position is charged with expanding breakfast meal service by implementing universal breakfast in schools across San Francisco Unified. The position will work autonomously and in partnership with SFUSD Student Nutrition Services, individual school sites and Revolution Foods to:
  • Manage district-wide outreach and run meetings with principals, teachers, and other school staff to generate a firm commitment to start universal breakfast programming.
  • Develop materials and coordinate tastings as necessary to support presentations/meeting about breakfast, and execution of breakfast expansion.
  • Serve as an advisor for school staff and teachers to help shape effective plans for breakfast expansion at their school.
  • Coordinate detailed plans and logistics across all stakeholders to ensure successful launch of universal breakfast.
  • Support school site breakfast launches with detailed plans and logistic project planning, management and execution as appropriate.
  • Flexible schedule with availability during school hours (between 6:30am-3:30pm as well as occasional evenings and/or weekends.
  • Position will report directly to the Northern California Regional Partnerships Manager.
  • Position will continue through September of 2014; while successful candidate is expected to be available 40 hours/week, the number of hours will vary.
Qualifications
  • Highly organized/methodical in approaching projects with a commitment to details and follow through.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Familiarity and experience in both small group meetings and large presentations (up to 50 people), working with a wide range of constituents including principals, teachers, servers and students.
  • Classroom experience. The candidate will bring credibility to talk about how/why programs such as Breakfast in the Classroom work. The ideal candidate will have had a positive experience serving breakfast in their classroom and/or experience in SFUSD.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and be a fantastic representative for both Revolution Foods and SFUSD.
  • Must be conversational in Spanish with the ability to lead trainings in both English and Spanish.
  • Solid computer skills, especially in using Microsoft Office, as well as comfort in quickly learning new programs.
  • Independent travel is expected throughout San Francisco Unified and to Revolution Foods’ home office as required.
