Corporate Counsel (R-4488)

Reporting to the General Counsel/Vice President of Legal Services, this position is accountable for the effective, timely and efficient provision of commercial legal services proactively supporting North American business strategy and operations that cover a broad range of legal matters.
As a lawyer at Viterra, you will focus on the following areas:
- Contract review, development and implementation including negotiation with third parties.
- Provision of expertise, strategic input, advice and legal education to the business across a broad range of legal and operational matters that may include trends and best practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, compliance and regulatory matters, litigation, M&A activity and other areas.
- Participation in and opportunity to lead the legal aspect of projects including M&A activities.
- Manage, develop and implement diligence procedures and appropriate contracting for project work.
- Manage, develop, implement and support compliance and regulatory frameworks applicable to the business.
- Collaborate with corporate offices and senior management within Viterra’s structure ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Provide litigation and conflict resolution support as required.

- A bachelor of laws (L.L.B) or juris doctorate (J.D.) degree from a Canadian accredited law school;
- Qualification to practice law in Saskatchewan;
- A minimum of 3 years of corporate/commercial legal experience;
- Previous experience in agri-business or rural background would be an asset.
