Job Description


  • Manage all Global product recalls (all lines of business/all products)
  • Manage Food Safety Modernization Act on behalf of PepsiCo globally
  • Manage International Food Safety laws and regulations as they apply to recalls and product withdrawals

Accountabilities:
  • Provide legal counsel/expertise on all Food and Beverage product recalls globally
  • Provide leadership and legal counsel in response to Food Safety ModernizationAct
  • Set food safety protocols on a global basis
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and agencies and requirements
  • Assess legal risks in the area of food safety on an on-going basis
  • Provide appropriate counsel and advice in response to external situations and applicable regulations
  • Evaluate dispute resolution opportunities on a regular basis
  • Regularly update Sector Business and Legal Colleagues on Food Safety status and trends
  • Execute and ensure compliance of process protocols for all Food Safety legal claims and product recalls
  • 5-7 years experience with specific FDA type experience preferred
  • JD degree, a member of at least one state bar
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with senior executives, other in-house counsel and others within PepsiCo is essential.
  • Inherent leadership skills and ability to inspire confidence in client base are prerequisites for effective counseling in this position.
  • Team player who will exceed assigned responsibilities and assist others to reach objectives.
  • Native intellectual curiosity and mental stamina.
  • Ability to project and explain the consequences of actions taken to protect
  • Position requires excellent on-going working relationships with other internal personnel who are involved in recall/food safety matters
  • Quality Assurance, R&D Regulatory & Food Safety, Product Supply, Procurement, Public Affairs, Risk Management and others.
  • This position also is visible before government authorities involved in food recalls: District and Federal level FDA and c counterparts in other countries.
  • Attorney will be responsible for briefing senior business managers on re c all situations.
  • Legal follow-ups on recalls that include assessing liability for the circumstances that gave rise to the recall and actions needed to recover damages.
  • Monitoring/contributing to new regulations will require leadership and interactions with other Law Department professionals, R&D Regulatory & Food Safety personnel, PepsiCo Public Affairs, PepsiCo Government Affairs, as well as regulatory authorities such as FDA, Health Canada , WHO and UKFSA.
