The Regulatory Counsel:
- Works
with the team and the Office to develop and revise policies, programs,
regulations, and guidance documents involving the most complex and highest
priority matters affecting food and cosmetic compliance.
- Serves
as a recognized government-wide expert in legal/regulatory matters related to
his or her areas of responsibility and is frequently called on to advise others
concerning Food and Drug Administration (FDA) statutes and regulations.
- Drafts
or reviews proposals for new regulations and policy statements. These
regulations and policy statements often result from the need to implement new
legislation or from new interpretations of existing legislation.
- Works
as a part of established work groups to develop regulations and guidance
advising on compliance with FDA's Good Guidance Practice regulations and other
legal/regulatory issues, as well as interfacing with science and regulatory
personnel to ensure that regulations and guidance are well-written and
consistent with all applicable legal/regulatory/administrative requirements.
