The successful candidate should expect to –
- Work collaboratively with PepsiCo legal & regulatory affairs colleagues worldwide to develop and provide critical food regulatory (i.e., food safety, labeling, and claims) advice & counsel to PepsiCo’s global innovation teams, with particular focus on initiatives spearheaded by PepsiCo’s Global Nutrition Group (GNG).
- Provide day-to-day food regulatory advice & counsel to PepsiCo’s U.S.-based businesses.
- Spot, track, and analyze emerging food regulatory issues of significance for PepsiCo operations worldwide.
- Assist in coordinating and framing PepsiCo’s response to key food regulatory developments in the US and across the world.
- Assist in the development of global PepsiCo perspectives, guidelines, and policies relating to consumer-facing nutrition and health-related messages.
- Assist in the development of global PepsiCo perspectives, guidelines and policies relating to allergens, contaminants, product recalls, traceability and other critical food safety-related issues.
- Provide legal analysis and support to key cross functional partners (e.g., Communications, Public Policy & Government Affairs, Global Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs; M&A) in addressing food regulatory issues and developments.
- JD from a top tier US law school
- 5+ years’ experience with a premier law firm in a regulatory affairs practice group (e.g., FDA, health, agriculture, advertising & marketing/FTC)
- In house experience with a CPG company strongly preferred but not required
- Background in nutrition, food science, or public policy/government affairs a strong plus
- Highly developed legal reasoning and analytical skills
- Experience in working as part of a team and assuming a leadership role with others from diverse backgrounds and functions
- Legal counseling skills to provide proactive guidance and support to executives and associates
- Outstanding ability to identify legal risks and offer solutions that minimize such risks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize readily and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Function at a high level with minimal direction and supervision
- Open, collaborative style.
- Must be willing and able to travel 15% of the time
