Food Tank Membership Director
Duration: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Start Date: Immediate (flexible). Preference for being based (or willing to relocate) to our offices in Chicago or New Orleans.
Food Tank (www.FoodTank.com) is the fastest growing nonprofit organization around food and agriculture issues, focused on building a global community for safe, healthy, nourished eaters. We spotlight environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable ways of alleviating hunger, obesity, and poverty, and create networks of people, organizations, and content to push for food system change.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•       Designing strategies to create incredible value to our existing members and campaigns to recruit new folks into Food Tank’s growing global family.
•       Helping us constantly seek new partnerships, opportunities, etc. to create the greatest possible value to Food Tank members.
•       Helping us design ways to further integrate members into the organization – from events, to webinars, to guest authorships, and much more.
•       Help us create more opportunities for members to directly engage them with Food Tank and connect personally with Danielle and other staff.
•       Be the main point of liaison between members and the organization.
•       Personal calls to all new donors to thank them and better understand the issues, campaigns, and organizations they work on or are passionate about.
•       Personal calls to all existing Food Tank members once a year.

Food Tank Organizing Director

Roles and Responsibilities:
•       Oversee and implement grassroots petition and organizing activities over the internet by using new technologies.
•       Develop a plan and tactics for consistent and concerted online mobilization, outreach, fundraising, and membership development.
•       Develop an email strategy and lead implementation of email campaigns.
•       Oversee creative production and distribution of regular outbound emails and newsletter programs.
•       Create and manage online initiatives including viral campaigns, online advertising, and online/offline strategies.
•       Implement and monitor test plans, metrics, and analysis of online fundraising.
•       Develop plan to expand and grow our online audience.
•       Write and edit emails and web content, including calls to action and fundraising appeals.
•       Moderate blog posts and comments.
•       Develop and analyze email and web metrics.
•       Work with organizational partners.
•       Oversee Food Tank member management.
•       Oversee ongoing Food Tank webinars and online events with experts.

Food Tank Research and Communications Paid Internships
Duration: 3-6 months, part-time or full-time (minimum 15 hours per week), paid per published research article.
Start Date: Immediate (flexible). Preference for being based (or willing to relocate) to our offices in Chicago or New Orleans.
Position Summary: Research and Communications Paid Fellowships
with Food Tank are a unique and exciting opportunity to support and participate in research that drives health, nutrition, and environmental policy. The fellow will work closely with Food Tank staff on the following: writing articles for major blogs, newspapers, websites, and magazines; researching and developing content for a new project and website; research and fact-checking; collecting, organizing, and managing web content; organizing resources and contacts; providing logistical and administrative support to on-the-ground research; and assisting in writing and outreach that will contribute to and help promote the ongoing project. Interns will also have the chance to have their name published on prominent food, nutrition, policy, and environmental websites and in major newspapers and columns around the world.
The ideal candidate will have:
•       Excellent writing and communication skills, preferably experience reporting on issues for newspapers, journals, and other publications.
•       Experience with web and blog design and management, as well as professional video editing software and Photoshop.
•       Ability to self-manage and stay organized while maintaining multiple assignments and deadlines.
•       Demonstrated experience in and passion for food and agriculture issues—and for the importance of accurate information and analysis to guide environmental decision-making.
•       Coursework reflecting interest and knowledge of communications, media, social media, and website design. Work in media and communications fields is a plus. The work requires attention to detail and creativity.
•       Skills in event management are a major plus.
