Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County (NY) invites applications for consideration for the following position in its Agriculture program. Please note that this position is in a county-level Cooperative Extension association office and are not located on the Cornell University campus.
The Community Ag Educator position at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County (NY) is focused on working with the County’s Agriculture & Farmland Protection Board (AFPB) to carry out goals in the County’s Ag & Farmland Protection plan (adopted 2016). Specific areas of focus include: Town land use plans and their impact on agriculture, Ag awareness education, Buy local promotion, future farmers and estate planning. This position works closely with the Issue Leader on efforts to document and communicate agriculture’s impact in the county and serves as a liaison to agriculture groups in the community. Responsible for monthly AFPB meetings, agenda setting, planning and delivering on priority projects, as well as grant support. Requirements include: Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years’ experience (Masters preferred). Coursework in agriculture, land use policy, local food systems. Experience working with and in support of the farm community is desirable.
