Amy's Kitchen - Corporate Counsel

SUMMARY

The objective of Amy’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) is to be a creative, fun, easy-to-work-with team that protects the company, delivers practical advice, operates efficiently, and facilitates each department’s success. Consistent with Amy’s vision and core values, the Corporate Counsel will provide a wide range of legal services and advice to business functions throughout the organization, including in the areas of labor and employment, claim preparation, prosecution and defense, contract drafting and review, dispute resolution, real estate and regulatory compliance. This position will work to support the goals, strategies and measures of the OGSMs of the company and OGC. The position shall provide regular updates to the Associate General Counsel on pending matters, and shall work within the Office of General Counsel in the administration, advice and resolution of material issues concerning the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Help manage and support the day-to-day affairs of the Office of General Counsel, including reviewing and processing written requests made to the Office of General Counsel by other functions, and interfacing with outside counsel and consultants.
  • Counsel the business on labor and employment-related issues, including workplace investigations, attendance and leave matters, suspension and termination, and handle related labor and employment disputes.
  • Review, draft and negotiate contracts, including equipment purchase and service agreements, NDAs, marketing agreements and various professional services and consulting agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and support to various departments, including HR, Manufacturing, Engineering, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Sales and Finance.
  • Prepare and provide trainings to the business on legal and compliance matters.
  • Assist with corporate compliance matters, including compliance with corporate formalities.
  • Provide high caliber, proactive, collaborative, solutions-oriented advice designed to mitigate risk, maximize recoveries and promote the business, including people safety and food safety.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in responding to and handling confidential, privileged and sensitive issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
