FDA - Supervisory Congressional Affairs Specialist

Summary:

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration, Office of the Commissioner, Office of Policy, Planning, Legislation and Analysis (OPPLA), Office of Legislation (OL), located in Silver Spring, MD.

Responsibilities:

Direct the development and clearance of HHS position papers and departmental reports, Secretarial and Commissioner correspondence, and other materials for submission to Congress.
Plan and direct the activities of a staff of Legislative Analysts and Correspondents.
Analyze proposed legislation and work closely with Agency and Departmental witnesses and Congressional staff in preparing for Congressional hearings and briefings.
Advise key Agency, Departmental, and Administration officials regarding legislative needs and pending Congressional legislation on FDA regulated matters.
Develop formal bill reports, legislative proposals, testimony, and briefing materials used by Administration and Departmental officials and Congress in the drafting of legislative language and formal consideration of the legislation by the Congress.
