Sterling College President

Sterling College is a very small liberal arts college located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Academics at Sterling focus on environmental studies, with an emphasis on agriculture and food systems. Sustainable Agriculture is currently the most popular major at Sterling, and a new summer semester program in food systems -Vermont's Table - attracts students from other colleges and universities. The on-campus Sterling Farm produces about 20 percent of the food served in the Sterling dining hall, and all students are responsible for farm chores.

Sterling is surrounded by a diverse agricultural landscape. The resurgence of agriculture in this part of Vermont has received national media attention, and Sterling works closely with our neighbors at the Center for an Agricultural Economy to connect students with opportunities in the regional food system.
