Food Security and Sustainability Program Manager - Honolulu, Hawaii

The City and County of Honolulu (“City”) Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency is seeking a Food Security and Sustainability Program Manager

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as lead for the City’s Food Security & Sustainability Program
  • Develop a strategic food system development plan to address sustainability within Oʻahu’s food system, poverty-related affordability, food deserts, and increasing access to locally-produced foods
  • Oversee the drafting, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the plan’s actions to establish long-term food resilience on Oʻahu and navigate the impacts of climate change on Oʻahu’s food systems
  • Conduct research on best practices among U.S. and international cities regarding the integration of food security and sustainability, and incorporates these lessons into City policy and plans
  • Support the development of Oʻahu’s food networks by identifying and building partnerships with Federal, State, non-profit, and community agencies/organizations to better align among various levels of government and NGOs
  • Recommend policies and initiatives with particular purview to the island’s disproportionately-impacted and vulnerable communities 
  • Represent CCSR and the City at various stakeholder and community meetings throughout Oʻahu
  • Launch and coordinate an Oʻahu Food Policy Council or similar entity
