Major Responsibilities: 

• Monitor regulatory, scientific and technical activities related to the grain

milling and processing industries.

• Develop comments to regulatory agencies on agriculture and

environmental matters related to the industry.

• Staff various association committees and orchestrate technical/scientific

research projects among the corn, wheat, oats and rye divisions.

• Participate in various coalitions of related industry associations on

technical, scientific and regulatory matters affecting the milling industry.

• Prepare briefing summaries on technical and regulatory matters for the

association President and Board of Directors.

• Represent NAMA at professional conferences on regulatory and technical

matters when appropriate.

• Coordinate with NAMA’s Director of Government Affairs on regulatory

and technical matters that impact legislation at the federal and state

• Other responsibilities commensurate with the position as directed by the

NAMA President

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in health, nutrition, food science or related

• Minimum five years of experience in food science and/or environmental

• Experience with regulatory or government relations focused associations is

• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and the

ability to develop excellent written regulatory comments.

• Demonstrated ability to successfully staff various association committees.

• Ability to coordinate many different research objectives and work with

association members to develop and monitor research projects.

Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers, Inc. (FOG), a Gainesville-based non-profit organization is currently hiring a Local Food Project Coordinator to manage and promote the Alachua County Farmers Market EBT Project and other local projects.

FOG supports and promotes organic and sustainable agriculture, wherein; we educate consumers, farmers, future farmers (children & youth), businesses, policy makers and the general public. FOG’s Education & Outreach projects generate knowledge, share resources, and apply the expertise of FOG that advance organic agriculture and healthy and just food systems. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Local Food Project Coordinator is a full time position with a semi-flexible schedule. This position is responsible for managing and promoting the Alachua County Farmers Market EBT Project and assisting with other local projects.

DUTIES INCLUDE:
The Local Food Project Coordinator is responsible for operating the Alachua County Farmers Market EBT Project at the Saturday Alachua County Farmers Market, SWAG Produce Market, and the Wednesday Union Street Farmers Market and completing all necessary paperwork and support the program requires. The Coordinator is also responsible for promoting the project and farmers markets in general. The Coordinator will plan, develop, and evaluate outreach and education activities. The Coordinator will also be asked to be FOG’s representative and advocate in local meetings and discussions concerning organic and sustainable agriculture.

San Francisco Unified School District, which partners with Revolution Foods to serve more than 30,000 fresh, healthy lunch and breakfast meals at more than 300 schools daily, is looking for ways to help more students start their days with nutritious meals. The Expansion Coordinator will have the exciting opportunity to work together with Revolution Foods and SFUSD schools to reach more students with healthy breakfasts. The Expansion Coordinator will work with SFUSD school staff and teachers to galvanize interest in programs – such as breakfast in the classroom – that increase access to breakfast, then support schools through the first 2-4 weeks of service. He or she will have the chance to work closely with a fun, committed team spanning both SFUSD and Revolution Foods. Requirements	Duties and Responsibilities This position is charged with expanding breakfast meal service by implementing universal breakfast in schools across San Francisco Unified. The position will work autonomously and in partnership with SFUSD Student Nutrition Services, individual school sites and Revolution Foods to: Manage district-wide outreach and run meetings with principals, teachers, and other school staff to generate a firm commitment to start universal breakfast programming. Develop materials and coordinate tastings as necessary to support presentations/meeting about breakfast, and execution of breakfast expansion. Serve as an advisor for school staff and teachers to help shape effective plans for breakfast expansion at their school. Coordinate detailed plans and logistics across all stakeholders to ensure successful launch of universal breakfast. Support school site breakfast launches with detailed plans and logistic project planning, management and execution as appropriate. Flexible schedule with availability during school hours (between 6:30am-3:30pm as well as occasional evenings and/or weekends. Position will report directly to the Northern California Regional Partnerships Manager. Position will continue through September of 2014; while successful candidate is expected to be available 40 hours/week, the number of hours will vary. Qualifications Highly organized/methodical in approaching projects with a commitment to details and follow through. Strong written and oral communication skills. Familiarity and experience in both small group meetings and large presentations (up to 50 people), working with a wide range of constituents including principals, teachers, servers and students. 	Job Duties
	* Manage and implement Homegrown Minneapolis initiative by working with a variety of organizational partners including city departments and elected officials, community organizations, technical assistance providers, local lending institutions, educational institutions, restaurants, coops, stores and local food producers. * Lead the staffing efforts for the Minneapolis Food Council including agenda setting and minutes drafting; provide information and analysis in planning, developing and facilitating the work of work groups/task forces as needed. * Coordinate the Minneapolis City Trees program whereby city property owners can order trees at a discounted price via Tree Trust, a local non-profit organization. * Identify and advocate for policies, systems, ordinances and/or changes to official City documents. 	Required Education
	Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Physical Science, Community Health, Natural Science, or Biological Science; Urban Planning or other related field.
	Required Experience
	Five years of professional experience, working on sustainability principals and/or public health, with at least two years experience analyzing, developing and implementing policies relevant to large urban community food systems at local or state level.
	Equivalency
	An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.
	Background Check

The post-doc will explore the history of open space protection, examining racial, ethnic, and socio-economic factors that may have influenced decisions about location, funding, and protection of public open space.

The University of Denver Interdisciplinary Research Incubator for the Study of (In)Equality or IRISE is seeking a two-year postdoctoral research fellow beginning September 1, 2014. We are seeking a candidate who is capable of bringing together insights from the disciplines of geography, environmental science, history, anthropology, law or a related field to the interdisciplinary study of the relationship between racial, ethnic, and socio-economic inequality and decisions about location, funding, and protection of public open space in the metropolitan United States. The fellow will be housed in the Department Geography and the Environment, with co-supervision and mentorship by faculty in the History and Anthropology departments, as well as the Sturm College of Law's Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute.

Applicants must have completed all requirements for their JD or PhD by June 30, 2014. Candidates must also be no more than 3 years from the awarding of their degree (i.e., September 2011).

Fellows are sought for their expertise within their field of study; engagement in research, scholarship, and creative work grounded in understandings of (in)equality; and/or a consideration for the many ways in which the academy or particular fields promote or hinder the advancement of historically underrepresented communities. The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is a non-profit health-advocacy group based in Washington, D.C., that focuses on nutrition and food safety. CSPI publishes Nutrition Action Healthletter, the nation's largest-circulation health newsletter. CSPI’s three main goals are to: provide valuable, objective information to the public and policymakers; represent citizens' interests before legislative, regulatory, and judicial bodies; and ensure that advances in science are used for the public's good. CSPI is supported largely by the 900,000 U.S. and Canadian subscribers to its Nutrition Action Healthletter, individual donors, and foundation grants.

The Litigation Project uses state and federal courts, as well as filings before federal agencies, to help correct corporate misbehavior. The project brings its own advocacy lawsuits, working with private lawyers across the country. CSPI’s legal filings have produced binding settlements resulting in more honest labeling of artificial ingredients and halting deceptive marketing. In addition, the Litigation Project files a variety of complaints and rulemaking requests before the FDA and other federal agencies. The Staff Attorney assists the Director in using the legislative and judicial system to further CSPI’s goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake litigation on behalf of CSPI or on behalf of private plaintiffs.
• Identify and retain appropriate class plaintiffs.
• Draft complaints and other legal documents such as motions, briefs, and discovery requests and responses; conduct discovery.

Qualifications

• Law degree (J.D.), admitted to at least one state bar, and 1 to 7 years of litigation or regulatory experience.
