The Manager supports the advancement of Nestlé’s strategy through advocating for, identifying, and monitoring legislation and regulatory developments of greatest relevance to Nestlé’s ability to operate and execute priorities in the U.S. The Manager should have proven success in liaising with internal and external stakeholders on legislative and policy issues, synthesizing and messaging complex issues, and managing and effectively delivering on priorities in a fast-paced environment. In addition to supporting traditional advocacy strategies, this role will play a key role in developing and aligning Nestlé’s external positioning on nutrition and food policy. Venable LLP’s Food & Drug Law Group deals broadly in regulatory work governing foods, dietary supplements, OTC drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics. Experience with some or all of the following is preferred: experience with FTC advertising requirements, claims substantiation, investigations, and regulations; experience with NAD challenges, ingredient reviews, label and labeling compliance, advertising claims safety evaluations, substantiation evaluations, 510(k) assessments, recall issues, import/export issues, FDA inspections, civil investigative demand letters, California Proposition 65, good manufacturing regulations for supplements and new dietary ingredient assessments; experience with state deceptive practices and investigations. Public Justice is seeking to hire a litigator with at least eight years of relevant experience for a Senior Attorney position in our Food Project. Public Justice is a public interest legal advocacy organization that takes on the biggest systemic threats to justice of our time—abusive corporate power and predatory practices, the assault on civil rights and liberties, and the destruction of the earth’s sustainability. The Food Project at Public Justice works to dismantle the current corporate-controlled exploitative food system and support a movement to achieve our vision of a food system that is both sustainable and equitable. 

The Food Project Senior Attorney will work across legal areas to lead and develop new cutting-edge legal theories to hold corporations and the government accountable for their abuse. The attorney should be prepared to develop new legal theories in areas such as worker justice, consumer rights, and/or environmental law and think holistically about how to reform food industries. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, top-notch litigator with experience organizing or working closely with organizers.

External Affairs Director at The Nature Conservancy
