As the Director, Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for developing a comprehensive regulatory strategy across the organization. This role covers the full company portfolio, which includes plant-based JUST Egg and animal cell-based GOOD Meat.
You will lead and drive the direction of all issues relating to the products with the Local Regulatory Authorities and handle compliance strategy and performance in all locations where our products are manufactured or sold. This includes US, Canada, Singapore, China, Korea, South Africa and is expected to expand to Qatar, Australia, UK, EU and Israel soon.
What You'll do
- Lead creation, filing and support of all regulatory submissions required for product-ingredient approval and use. This will include Novel Foods, GRAS additive extensions and similar documents. Ensure that regulatory dossiers and approvals are created and submitted in a timely manner to enable first-to-market competitive advantage.
- Work with Government groups to help shape policy relating to the Company's product categories.
- Manage compliance and response/resolution of issues relating to claims and labelling.
- Collaborate with Corporate Legal to ensure that all marketing claims and materials comply with regulations and corporate policy.
- Ensure that all labels and packaging are created on schedule and follow relevant local regulations.
- Work closely with the technical leaders to ensure that there is sufficient planning and preparation for product approval before commercialization.
- Define regulatory policies that continue to drive the highest uniform standards of compliance across this global organization.
- Work with the many business partners and relationships to ensure that the highest standard of regulatory compliance is understood and adhered to.
- Help businesses to understand and be able to navigate the various regulatory hurdles needed for approval.
- Manage and develop a team of Regulatory Affairs professionals to deliver against company objectives.
What you'll bring
We are seeking a functional expert with strong leadership skills and the ability to support both strategic and tactical activities:
- 12+ years of Regulatory experience, of which a minimum of 5 have been at a strategic level and directly managing people.
- Degree in Food Science or related sciences required; post graduate qualification ideal.
- Experience with food safety submissions to multiple local authorities. This should include GRAS, Novel Foods, Additive approvals or closely related processes. It should include experience with registration and documentation for import-export of food products.
- Experience with commercializing fundamentally new products.
- Food Science or related qualification preferred, but exposure to broad regulatory issues is a must.
- Proven track record of success in maintaining outstanding regulatory compliance in an organization.
- The capacity to lead the development and execution of strategic, creative and commercially sound regulatory initiatives that drive business results and align with corporate strategies.
- A track record of developing succession-level talent. You have operated in data and results-driven organizations; experience in the food industry where there is an orientation toward the innovation of products is desirable.
- In order to fit seamlessly into the Company culture, the candidate must have a sense of urgency, be high-energy, comfortable with ambiguity and have a strong sense of accountability. The executive must be a subject-matter expert who can see the large picture and is also willing to roll up his/her sleeves and get into the necessary details.

This is a full-time regular position based out of our headquarters in Alameda, CA.
