To support that challenge, the US Seeds Traits Regulatory Team within Seeds Development is currently seeking an US Regulatory Specialist, to be located in Research Triangle Park (Durham), North Carolina.
Role Purpose
- Lead and manage vital Plant Varity Protection (PVP) filings in the US to help support Syngenta’s intellectual property efforts
- Provide support for regulated field trial activities, seed labelling and USDA permitting
- Accountabilities
- U.S. lead for Plant Variety Protection (PVP) and Seed Certification projects for wheat, vegetables, flowers, corn and soy varieties for the certification and importation of seed and plant products in the United States.
- Cooperating and communicating with relevant business, R&D stakeholders and PVP/Registration specialists in other parts of the world to ensure variety filings are made and are consistent with global IP and development status
- Preparation of PVP applications, filing, and management of PVP fillings for wheat, vegetable and flowers in the U.S.
- Breeder and stakeholder support to ensure complete filings
- Attend relevant meetings to keep updated on new varieties
- Become expert in PVP rules and regulations for the U.S.
- Manage PVP and Patent deposits for both seed and propagated varieties
- Update and manage PVP information in Syngenta’s database systems
- Main Syngenta contact for USDA PVP office
- Acquire basic knowledge of Seed certification rules (AOSCA)
- Support key elements of the regulated field trial compliance programs in the US and Canada.
- Assist in submitting and obtaining U.S. regulatory approvals of new biotechnology traits and assist in ensuring Syngenta maintains freedom to operate for our current commericial products
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is Required (Agriculture, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or related background).
- Strong capabilities in the interpretation and communication (written and verbal) of technical and non-technical information to internal and external stakeholders
- Preferred Requirements
- Experience working in a multi-culture and multi-discipline team environment is desired
- A proven track record of successful goal delivering.
- Knowledge on how the legal environment, political and public perceptions impact regulations of technology in agriculture is desired.
- Experience with the registration a deregulation process for biotech traits with USDA, EPA and FDA.
