Food Labeling Specialist, Conagra Comapny

 



We are flexible for this role to be based out of our Omaha, NE campus or Chicago, IL headquarters location.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Principal, as Food Labeling Specialist on our R&D team, you will be an expert in reviewing and updating labeling designs for Marketing and Brand Design. You will work with teams across the company on matters related to product labeling and compliance.

You Will:

  • Provide U.S. food labeling expertise and work with Government Affairs, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Nutrition, Marketing, Product Development and others to use regulations to help us be competitive in the marketplace.
  • Provide creative options and solutions to assist the brand(s) on the development of new product names and claims.
  • Provide answers to labeling compliance-related questions and provide creative compliance options.
  • Help lead team in maneuvering through labeling issues and trends and mentoring junior staff.
  • Help lead the improvement of labeling processes to help with consistency and agility.
  • Communicate up-to-date knowledge and interpretation of current and pending labeling regulations.
  • Help develop our position regarding regulatory/labeling concerns that will be used in communication or participation with trade associations or government agency meetings.
  • Obtain USDA/FSIS label approval, temporary approvals and extensions for U.S. products.
  • Review all product related artwork and ensure it meets food regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Develop mandatory label copy which includes product name, weight statement, ingredient statement, allergen declaration, kosher, nutrition facts panel and claims which meet government requirements and standard of identities. This includes ensuring compliance with all label related health and wellness claims.
  • Limited travel, up to 10% of the time.

You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related field
  • 2+ years of food industry experience in labeling or regulatory affairs
  • USDA and/or FDA Food labeling experience
  • Knowledge of food product development, processes, food safety and allergens
  • Experience with different food formats
