USDA is hiring for a International Trade Specialist.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides expert technical leadership and policy guidance on foreign markets and/or international organizations and multilateral bodies that may affect agricultural trade.
- Advises on highly political and sensitive trade issues including, as assigned, those related to international agreements and/or market access, subsidy or sanitary and phytosanitary issues affecting U.S. agriculture?s trade interests.
- Plans, directs and coordinates the execution of, or individually develops and prepares, special analyses and interpretations that cut across established organizational and functional lines of USDA for assigned portfolio.
- Analyzes issues from all appropriate perspectives (e.g., trade and domestic policy, economic, legal, regulatory), and calls attention to potential advantages or disadvantages of utilizing particular courses of action under varying situations.
- Recommends plans for trade policy engagement (including but not limited to negotiation and enforcement strategies) and/or related outreach strategies.
- Develops strategic priorities and contributes to FAS strategic planning process.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
