Trout Unlimited works to protect rivers, streams, and fish like trout and salmon. They rely on science, policy advocacy, and community organizing to restore healthy watersheds.
The California Policy Advocate will lead state-level policy efforts. You will advance conservation priorities in the legislature, build relationships with lawmakers and agencies, coordinate with staff and volunteers, and align local work with national strategy. You will also support fundraising, communications, and partnerships with other conservation groups, tribes, agencies, and grassroots members.
Ideal candidate has a Bachelor's or advanced degree, 3-5 years legislative or conservation policy experience in California, strong communication and strategic planning skills, and willingness to travel and be present in Sacramento during sessions. Salary: about $75,000–$90,000 per year plus benefits.
