Analyst in Agricultural Policy — Washington, DC

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) seeks an Analyst in Agricultural Policy focused on livestock and dairy production.

This position fits someone who values objective, public-policy work. CRS supplies Congress with nonpartisan analysis. The Analyst will research agricultural-policy issues including animal-health regulation, federal commodity policy, market concentration, marketing orders, and industry “checkoff” programs. The job involves producing reports, memos and background studies. The Analyst will consult with congressional committees, brief Members and staff, respond to requests for information, and support legislative deliberations.

Ideal candidate holds strong knowledge of agricultural policy, demonstrates rigorous analytical skill, and writes clearly for non-technical audiences. You must show ability to assess complex policy issues, use quantitative methods, and synthesize findings into digestible briefings.

Position details: GS-13 grade, salary approx. $120,579–$156,755 (adjusted for DC locality). Telework eligibility permitted. Full-time, permanent appointment. Application window closes December 31, 2025.
