Amazon — Associate Corporate Counsel, Food Safety Compliance (Arlington, VA / Seattle, WA)

Amazon is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel, Food Safety Compliance to support its Food Safety Operations team in North America. This role sits at the intersection of law, technology, and operations, advising Amazon’s emerging and existing food businesses on regulatory compliance while helping raise food safety standards for customers.

Responsibilities include counseling on laws governing food production, transportation, distribution, labeling, recalls, allergens, permitting, and foodborne illness response. The role also involves advising on private label products, online grocery, and health and wellness categories, supporting development of food safety technology tools, and helping design scalable traceability systems from farm to fork. The position includes engagement with regulators such as FDA, USDA, Health Canada, and state or local health departments.

Candidates should have at least 3 years of legal experience, a J.D., and active bar membership. Strong project management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in fast-moving environments are required. Experience in a law firm, in-house, or government setting is preferred, along with interest in regulatory compliance and technology-driven solutions.

Salary range: $131,500 to $178,000.
