Project Bread is seeking a Chief Policy Officer to lead the organization’s policy and advocacy strategy focused on ending hunger in Massachusetts. Reporting to the President/CEO and serving on the Executive Leadership Team, this role oversees policy campaigns, government affairs, coalition strategy, and team leadership at a critical moment of organizational growth.
Responsibilities include developing and executing policy strategy, leading advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels, managing the Make Hunger History coalition, and integrating research, grassroots organizing, and community input into policy priorities. The role also involves supervising senior policy staff, managing departmental budgets, engaging the Board of Directors, supporting donor relations, and serving as a public spokesperson with policymakers, partners, and media.
Candidates should have at least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 or more years in senior policy leadership within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization. Strong experience leading policy campaigns, managing teams, and navigating the Massachusetts policy landscape is required. Experience working on hunger, food insecurity, or related public policy issues is strongly preferred.
Salary range: $170,000 to $190,000.
