American Farmland Trust — California Regional Director

American Farmland Trust is seeking a California Regional Director to lead strategy and program development across the state. This role focuses on expanding AFT’s impact through partnerships, fundraising, and program leadership, advancing efforts to protect farmland, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and support farm viability.

Responsibilities include building and managing partnerships with farmers, agencies, conservation organizations, and funders, leading program development and implementation, and supporting policy initiatives in coordination with national teams. The role also involves overseeing staff, managing budgets and workplans, driving fundraising efforts, and serving as a public-facing spokesperson to advance AFT’s mission.

Candidates should have at least 10 years of leadership experience in agriculture, conservation, public policy, or related fields. Strong experience in fundraising, partnership development, and team management is required, along with knowledge of California agriculture and conservation systems. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, collaborative, and able to lead in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Salary range: $125,000 to $130,000.
