Long Island Farm Bureau is a grassroots agricultural advocacy organization representing farmers and the agriculture industry across Long Island. The organization advances public policy, promotes agriculture, and supports its members through advocacy, education, and community engagement.
LIFB seeks a Policy and Promotion Coordinator to lead public policy coordination, advocacy, and communications. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will monitor and engage on state and local agricultural issues, represent LIFB policies before government and community stakeholders, and coordinate policy positions with the New York Farm Bureau. You will support grassroots advocacy efforts and work with NYFB public policy staff and committees.
You will manage communications and promotion by maintaining the website and social media, creating newsletters and promotional materials, and representing LIFB at meetings and events. You will also support membership and leadership development, assist with recruitment and retention, coordinate Young Farmers and Ranchers activities, and help plan events, fundraisers, and grant opportunities.
You should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in public policy, communications, agriculture, or a related field. Experience in nonprofit or public sector work is preferred, along with strong communication skills and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Grant writing or fundraising experience is a plus. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
This is a full time salaried position with day and evening hours and regular travel across Suffolk County, Nassau County, and New York City. Starting salary is $66,300, with cost shared health insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, and mileage reimbursement.
