Mercy For Animals seeks a Senior Policy Specialist to support its US Government Affairs and Public Policy team in advancing legislation and policy aimed at reducing and ending the use of animals in the food system. This role combines policy research, drafting, lobbying support, and legislative tracking in a mission driven advocacy organization focused on building a just and sustainable food system.
You will research and analyze state and local legislation, draft persuasive policy materials including letters, fact sheets, op eds, and testimony, and help advance policy initiatives through coalition building and bipartisan relationship development. The role also involves bill tracking, internal coordination, and monitoring political developments relevant to animal agriculture and food policy.
Ideal candidates bring at least one year of government affairs or public policy experience, strong research and writing skills, familiarity with state and municipal legislative processes, and a clear commitment to animal protection and intersectional policy work. This is a full time, remote role with limited travel, offering a salary range of $63,000 to $65,000.
