The ASPCA seeks a Director, Legal Counsel to support organization wide legal needs through contract drafting, risk management, and legal guidance across program and operational teams. This is a full time remote role with up to 10 percent travel and reports to a Senior Director, Corporate Counsel.
You will draft and negotiate corporate agreements such as confidentiality agreements, consulting contracts, and other legal documents. You will advise internal teams on risk, compliance, labor and employment matters, and strategic initiatives. The role includes cross department collaboration, legal research, staff training on legal risks, and coordination with outside counsel on complex matters.
Requirements include a JD, admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and at least four years of legal experience. Experience with contract drafting is required. In house experience and familiarity with nonprofit corporate law, real estate, finance, or education work are valued. A strong commitment to animal welfare is expected.
