Walmart – Counsel, Food (Bentonville, AR or Washington, DC)

Walmart is seeking Counsel, Food to join its Regulatory and Specialty Legal, Regulated Products team, supporting the world’s largest food retailer. This role serves as a key legal and regulatory advisor across the business, working closely with Legal, Compliance, Private Brands, Merchandising, Operations, Corporate Affairs, and other stakeholders.

You will act as a subject matter expert on food law and regulation, advising on USDA and FDA compliance, state food laws, food labeling and claims, ecommerce, supplier management, inspections, investigations, recalls, manufacturing, and new food-related initiatives. The role involves tracking regulatory developments, providing guidance on enforcement matters, reviewing agreements for compliance, and supporting food risk assessment programs while enabling Walmart’s strategic goal of delivering safe, affordable food.

Candidates must hold a JD, be licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and have at least four years of experience in government, in-house, or private practice. Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver practical, business-oriented regulatory advice in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment are essential.

This is a full-time role based in Bentonville, AR or Washington, DC. Salary ranges from $110,000–$220,000 in Bentonville and $143,000–$286,000 in Washington, DC.
