Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy — Food and Trade Policy Analyst (Minneapolis, MN or Washington, DC)

The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy seeks a full time policy analyst to support research, advocacy, and coalition work at the intersection of agriculture, trade, climate, and food justice. The role sits within the trade and global governance program and works closely with the Director of Trade and International Strategies and other policy staff.

You will analyze global and local food production policies, evaluate how trade rules shape food security and food sovereignty, and develop alternative policy proposals that support agroecological systems and rural communities. The role includes advocacy with lawmakers and decision makers, public engagement, coalition building, and writing research, reports, and funding proposals. You will represent the organization in public forums and serve as a subject matter source for media and partners.

Candidates need at least five years of experience in agriculture, food systems, or trade policy work focused on social, environmental, or economic justice. Strong research, writing, and communication skills are required, along with knowledge of agroecology and trade policy institutions. Experience working in coalitions and translating data into policy analysis is preferred. Spanish or Portuguese skills and experience in Latin America are a plus.

The position follows a hybrid schedule based in Minneapolis or Washington, DC, with domestic and international travel a few times each year. Salary range is $55,000 to $70,000 based on experience.

To apply, submit a single PDF with resume, cover letter, and two writing samples to jobs@iatp.org.
