The Consumer Brands Association is seeking a Senior Vice President, Federal Affairs to lead its federal advocacy and lobbying efforts on behalf of the consumer packaged goods industry. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, this role drives the organization’s federal policy agenda and serves as a key voice on issues including nutrition, ingredient safety, consumer transparency, and chemicals management.
The position involves leading all federal lobbying functions, managing relationships with Congress and federal agencies, and developing and executing policy campaigns aligned with industry priorities. Responsibilities include coordinating with legal and regulatory teams, overseeing internal member groups and political action efforts, and serving as a public spokesperson in media and industry settings. The role also includes managing consultants, building coalitions, and leading a high-performing advocacy team.
Candidates should have 12–15 years of experience, preferably in the legislative or executive branch, with a strong understanding of federal policy and regulatory processes. Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry and familiarity with food and chemical policy issues is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills are required.
